I have owned a day care center for years, and I like to find new ways to teach the children in my care. It can get expensive for me to have to buy all kinds of learning materials, and I wanted to see what else was available. Recently my sister dropped by and I noticed that she looked frazzled. When I asked if anything was wrong she said that she and her husband seemed to be working all the time, when they weren’t taking care of the kids. It was getting her down. They are both professionals and have an excellent income, so I was puzzled. I asked my sister why they didn’t hire a caregiver, to lighten the load. She said she couldn’t find any she trusted. When my husband Brad told me he intended to install our garage door opener himself, I wisely nodded but said nothing. Brad is very stubborn and very proud of his ability to figure out even the most complicated instructions. I listened to him struggle for two days and made no comment, even when he came in, sweating, to do an Internet search for, “install garage door opener“. The next day he appeared for lunch looking defeated and I handed him the phone number for a professional installer. He took it and made a call without saying a word. I was way too smart to comment.
