Some of our old software is getting pretty far out of date. Since we would have to switch to completely new versions in order to upgrade at all, I am going to take this as an opportunity to switch to a new brand if we can find something that is better than the product which are are currently using. I am particularly interested in a different distribution software option that I have been hearing some really impressive things about for the past few months.

It costs China less to steal our technology guides than it does for us to invent it. That’s why we have to spend the most – we have no one to steal it from. Same was true in the cold war era: We make it, they take it – defense posture. We shoulder the total global cost structure for military R&D. Do not make the mistake of assuming that a comparison of who spends more is an a apples to apples comparison. Its not. Spending equals production in most places. Not here, where R&D eats up much of the budget. Other countries don’t worry about that, they take or buy technology from the US AFTER IS ALREADY WORKS AND IS IN PRODUCTION.

My manager asked for some information on going to a dedicated server web. This would be instead of hosting the server in our office. There are so many benefits to using this type of system. I hope the company considers this option to reduce the staff we need for maintenance and support. I can see this being better for production and speed. Now I have to get my notes together to help my manager with his presentation on this change.

While I was visiting with my friend Darlene, I asked her about the media player that she used. I told her that I was getting very frustrated with iTunes. I explained that many of my files were duplicated, and many of the tiles were missing. Additionally, I told her that some of the album art was not even downloaded with the songs. My girlfriend brought me some sort of hot soup last night. She said that that the soup was going to help me get over my cold a lot quicker. This was a good thing because I had been battling a cold for the past week. While she was over she told me about some sort of hosting dedicated servers situation going on at work. The training on the handheld data collection system went well and there was a lot of positive responses on having to use these devices. I think the staff is open to this change and can see how it will benefit both the company and staff using the system. I like how easy the handheld device is to use. There is a touch screen that allows for quick input of the data we have to collect each day while in the field.
