The Negative Stigma of a Bankruptcy Filing

The downside of any kind of bankruptcy filing initially is it will be difficult to get any kind of credit and especially credit for large purchases such as mortgages. Moving and getting a lease also might be a challenge after a bankruptcy filing. Some people believe there is a stigma that follows bankruptcy as a question of integrity with those who would file chapter 7 bankruptcy and not attempt to settle or repay their creditors at least a portion of what they owed. Different situations of why people got themselves into trouble is something to take into consideration. If someone went out irresponsibly and ran up their credit cards and then immediately decided to file bankruptcy there would definitely be an integrity issue there.
