Money and Happiness – A Connection?
June 30th, 2010
In case you missed the studies that have been reported on in recent years, money and happiness are related – sort of. The pattern goes something like this: People get happier as their income rises – if they are poor to start with. Up to about the average income of the country they live in, they continue to see improvements in self-reported levels of happiness. But beyond that there is little evidence that more happiness comes with more money. This means that on average, in the United States, people are happier making $45,000 than when they are making $20,000, but they feel about the same at $145,000.
